- A person should own a valid driving license
- Secondly the vehicle which will be driven on the streets of Dubai must be insured from the insurance companies present in the UAE
- Last but not the least that if anyone is willing to drive a car on the streets of Dubai, he/she must own a valid vehicle registration in Dubai.
After understanding the requirements of rules and regulations in Dubai it is equally important to remember your car registration renewal date.
Usually, each car which is been driven on the streets of Dubai is renewed every year and if you are a person who tend to forget things and dates easily then you are driving a vehicle in the wrong country. There are multiple questions which can arise in anyone’s mind that what happens if someone accidently forgot the car registration renewal date or can I drive my car during grace period in Dubai. Well, there are multiple things which we need to know about the car registration renewal process in Dubai.
First and most important thing is to keep this thing in mind that cars are been registered in Dubai for a period of 12 months in total. One-month actual renewal time and Dubai Roads and Transport Authority also known as (RTA) kind enough to provide one month grace time frame to all the owners to renew their car registration, till their yearly insurance get expires which is for 13 months. But still you will be fined 40 AED by RTA for the first month after your registration expires.
Once again, the question is the same can a car be driven in the grace time, and the answer is yes, RTA is also kind enough to allow owners to drive their vehicles on their roads even in the grace time frame. But if you still don’t get your registration renewal done within the provided grace time then you are in serious problem, in the first month after your registration is expired you will be fined an amount of AED 40.
This lenience is provided till 3 months and in all three months you will be charged same amount but if you still don’t get your registration renewed your car will be detained by RTA for a minimum time of 7 days.
After all these extensions, detentions and fines you still manage to drive your vehicle on the road and got caught by the authorities then the penalty you will be charged is AED 500 and it does not end here, your license will also be marked with four black points which will also be taking you towards license cancellation gradually. We all know how difficult for everyone is to get a driving license in Dubai, one must never want to lose it at any cost, so it is very important for everyone owning a vehicle to timely get your car registration done.
